Bolivar for alumni

Alumni Journalism Award Winners

Last Wednesday, November 15, the ceremony of the forty-eighth edition of the Simon Bolivar National Journalism Award was held. A recognition granted to professionals in this field in the country. For the 2023 edition, the names of several Gimnasio Moderno graduates were mentioned in order to present them with this important award.

The categories in which alumni excelled are:

Valeria Santos and Sebastián Nohra De Angulo, class of 2007, of the program “Mañanas Blu” of Blu Radio, were awarded for their investigation entitled “El saqueo a los recursos de la paz” (The looting of peace resources). This investigation reveals how officials of the National Planning Department, the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic and the Congress allied to demand bribes for more than 500,000 million to mayors of municipalities that needed an endorsement of their projects, as a requirement to access the resources of the OCAD Peace. The investigation lasted more than six months and is based on documents, petition rights and 35 interviews. The journalists uncovered this corruption scheme and explained it clearly to the listener.

Recognition Opinion humor in video:

The writer, humorist and journalist, Daniel Samper Ospina, alumnus of 1992, and his team formed by Angie Rodríguez, Mario Jaramillo Samper “Mariete”, Sergio Noctem and Andrés Cote Palacio, alumnus of 2010 and Martín Jaramillo, of the class of 2016; obtained a recognition in the category Opinion Humor Video for the ‘Exclusive: Sofía Petro covers the possession of her dad Gustavo Petro that was presented for the August 11 edition of NotiDanny, audiovisual product of the Youtube channel “HolaSoyDanny”.

In a witty way, very sharp darts and image and sound resources that give it great agility and reinforce the humorous line, NotiDanny appeals to humor to show the reality of the country and confront the power. In this chapter, he describes with great humor and wit the start of Gustavo Petro’s government and also shows in detail family images captured by Sofía Petro, the president’s daughter, on the day of her father’s inauguration.

This edition of the Simon Bolivar National Journalism Awards, created in 1975 and organized by the Bolivar Group, was judged by seven leading Colombian journalists: Eduardo Arias, Natalia Botero, Edwin Carvajal, Jorge Orlando Melo, Yolanda Reyes, Sandra Sanchez and Adriana Villegas; and was attended by Ukrainian writer Kateryna Babkina as a special guest.

Gimnasio Moderno is proud of the trajectory of these gymnasts and congratulates them for such an important achievement.
