Indigenous Visits

Members of the Kogui community visit the school facilities.

From the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Fabián Nieves and his father, José Nieves, leader of the Kogui community, visited Gimnasio Moderno to share with the students of Montessori 2B the traditions and customs that still survive in their community.

For an hour, the students of Montessori 2 had the opportunity to learn firsthand how these indigenous communities move through the territories in which they are present, their hierarchy, their gastronomic preferences, their family traditions, among other aspects. It is worth remembering that throughout the year, the children have researched about the various indigenous communities that exist in the country, and on this occasion, they had the opportunity to enjoy, ask questions and meet members of the Kogui community.

This was a valuable opportunity for the students to know and learn about the care that these communities provide to nature. In addition, the guests also gave some recommendations to the students to continue taking care of the natural environment that surrounds them.
