Camilo Vaughan Jurado received his high school diploma from Gimnasio Moderno in 2006. He studied music. He has a master’s degree in musicology and is a graduate of the Universidad Nacional.
Camilo has excelled as a composer of music for cartoons. He has won two national awards for best original music for animated shorts. In addition, he has developed research projects focused on the analysis of Colombian academic music of the twentieth century. The products of such work have been presented as papers at conferences in Hobart (Tasmania), Riverside-California (USA), Havana (Cuba) and in Bogotá and Cali in his country. He has published a book and some articles on Colombian academic music.
He is currently a full-time professor at the Conservatorio del Tolima, and has worked with the INCCA University, the Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and the Patronato Colombiano de Artes y Ciencias, where he is currently part of the Academic Committee. He is a member of the International Musicological Society and the International Association of Musical Iconography RIdIM, and is pursuing a doctorate in art and architecture.
Undoubtedly, Camilo is another alumnus who is succeeding and who dreams of making the history and great importance of Colombian music known.
