Mariana Jaramillo Vélez is a political scientist from the Universidad de Los Andes, with postgraduate studies in Latin American politics in Paris and in media at the Universidad de los Andes. From now on, she will accompany all the families who wish to be part of the community, as the new Director of Admissions.
Her work experience has focused on the public sector, in different ministries and cooperation agencies such as the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and the United Nations Population Fund UNFPA, where she was part of the Citizenship Competencies team. She has worked in peace and reintegration processes from the Presidency of the Republic, developing research and various communication and social marketing strategies in partnership with the private sector.
Mariana believes in education as an engine for peace, equality and development. By living and traveling in different countries, she understands that global citizenship is essential to enrich life experiences.
“I feel happy and proud to be part of the transformation of an emblematic school like Gimnasio Moderno. I have school´s heart since all the men I love and admire the most are alumni of this school. I hope to do a great job so that many children have the privilege of growing up in these magical classrooms with the best academic standards, happy and prepared to positively transform their country and the world,” said Mariana.
