Camilo Eduardo Salazar Angarita, better known as “Salo”, is a musician, singer, composer and music industry executive. He graduated in 2006, that year he was president of the Cultural Committee.
He discovered his passion for music thanks to his teachers: Lucero Mejía “Lucerito” and Jorge Gutiérrez. At recess he rehearsed with his classmates in what was his first band: “Klift”; with it, he represented the Moderno in several inter-school competitions. This allowed him in 2004 while he was in ninth grade, to be part, as a vocalist, of the youth band “Wamba”.
He began his musical training at the age of 6 at the academy “La Escala”. He toured part of Europe and South America in different choral festivals. He participated in two seasons of the Colombian Opera. Afterwards, he did a semester of composition at the Javeriana University and then 2 years at the EMMAT with emphasis on vocal technique and guitar. In 2012, he completed the “Artist intensive” diploma course of the VocalizeU program in Los Angeles, California, USA; and his most recent training is a diploma course in composition and another in music production in Mexico.
“Salo” represented Colombia at the Viña del Mar Song Festival in 2016 with his first single “Noche de Bodas”, a co-authorship with Colombian composer Efraín Ardila, a song that was produced by Andrés Torres.
In 2019 he released his first album as a solo artist, called “Morir y Volver a Empezar” in Mexico. From 2018 to 2020 he worked at Cosmos Producciones, one of the most important music production companies in Latin America, as A&R and label manager, working with artists such as Leo Dan, Gloria Trevi, Natalia Jiménez, among others.
Currently, he is one of the heads of ADA Latin Mexico, the independent distribution company of Warner Music Group, where he works as Commerce & Marketing Manager for this region. As an artist, he is preparing his new album to be released by the end of 2021.
