During the Closing sessions that were held virtually on Saturday, December 5, the school delivered the three individual awards and the only collective recognition, to the students who stood out the most in the Middle School and High School sections during the 2020 school year.
The Board of Teachers determined the names of the students who were awarded with each of the awards that the school gives:
Personal Effort Cup
The Personal Effort Cup is a recognition that the Institution makes to the student who, using the full performance of their duties, perseverance, discipline in their actions and the achievement of school and personal goals, has made important progress in their academic and training process. Likewise, the award values that the student has generously shared their achievements, and that they show themselves to their peers as an example of self-improvement and humility.
After meeting the nominees for each of the courses, the Board of Middle School Teachers chose as the winner of the Personal Effort Cup the student Pablo Lleras Ronderos, from the Sixth A course.
Likewise, after knowing the name of each of the postulates of each High School course, the teachers decided to deliver the Personal Effort Cup to the student Benjamín Leopoldo López, from the Eleventh A course.
Plaque of the Beautiful Character
The Plaque of the Beautiful Character recognizes the student who is distinguished by respect for human dignity, as well as by their treatment with others. This conviction is the result of self-knowledge and the training of their autonomy. The nobility of such character leads the student to live with chivalry and simplicity; frankly and without hypocrisy; with a desire to serve but without falling into servility; with tolerance, but without giving up leadership; with a sense of companionship, but away from all complicity and with a multifaceted spirit, but clear in its principles. Detached from all desire for prominence, but proud of himself/herself.
After knowing the nominated students, the Board of Middle School Teachers awarded this distinction to Martín Del Valle Orjuela, from the Sixth A course.
Regarding the High School, the teachers presented the Plaque of the Beautiful Character to the student Pablo Posada Sarria, from the eleventh C course.
Hiking Badge
The Hiking Badge highlights the right balance between physical qualities and spirit that should distinguish the good hiker. A cheerful, enthusiastic, supportive and adventurous spirit, which is reflected in the close dialogue that the student establishes with the environment, with the new cultural conditions, with their classmates and their teachers. All these qualities that the student possesses flourish in the pines of the Institution and come to life, particularly, on excursions, when faced with situations that demand the greatest care, the highest responsibility, the best sense of respect, and that only one trained character in temperance and nobility, can prudently circumvent.
After knowing the Middle School nominees, the teachers decided to present this recognition to the student Nicolás Elmor Nassar Peñaranda, from the Ninth B course.
The High School teachers recognized the hiking spirit of the student Juan David Hoyos Díaz, from the Eleventh A course.
Fellowship Cup
This recognition is given to that course that exalts the school’s spirit and its collective values, such as healthy union, the sense of coexistence, belonging and loyalty. These collective values had to be built based on tolerance, solidarity with other people´s problems, respect for unbreakable principles and commitment to common causes. The scale of values of this course must have led its members to forge solid ties of friendship and to develop fair mechanisms to resolve their conflicts.
In the Middle School Section, the course that received this recognition was Eighth A, under the guidance of teachers Jaime Salazar and Lorena Aguirre.
In the section of the High School, the course that received the Fellowship Cup was Tenth B, under the guidance of teachers Juan Sebastián Villamizar and Jorge Salazar.
