When he was in high school, Diego Escallón Arango discovered his vocation for social work and his leadership in carrying out campaigns and volunteer programs such as “Bogotá without hunger”. After graduating in 2008, he studied law and got a master’s degree in public policy. For the last 7 years he has been advising public entities in law and public policy, mainly in education and transparency.
At the moment he is betting on a community project that he promotes through the Help Foundation, an organization that brings two projects together to raise funds: the first, “Donate for Education”, the best tool for financing education through microfinance; and the second, “Tresx33”, social interventions financed by the union of three actors: the community, a private company and Help.
With these initiatives, he has managed to get 23 people to finance the education of young people in need, delivered 1,682 markets and 1,700 face-masks, two solidarity closets in vulnerable communities, planted 1,700 trees and have painted a school.
Since his years as a student and now as a professional he continues to think about the needs of others and with all the love in the world he dedicates a large part of her life to social work. He thanks his family and the school for having instilled these values in him and now he feels a great commitment to give back to the country and contribute to society.
Diego affirms that “achievements are not reached alone, but with a team that is convinced and focused on the cause”; therefore, he thanks all the people in his Help team, mostly Moderno alumni: Guillermo Tovar (2014), José Antonio Hernández (2014), Diego Baquero (2014) and Camila González.
