The Gimnasio Moderno , together with the teacher Pedro Ruíz, have designed an environmental awareness campaign called “Manifest yourself because of everything and against nothing”, a proposal that aims to bring children and young people closer to a reality that is weakening the capacity of the planet and that invites the whole community to listen to nature.
Climate change is a reality that must be addressed. In today’s socio-cultural context, the notion of time and respect for nature seems to have been lost. While it is true that the responsibility of caring for and protecting the environment is everyone’s task, it is necessary to foster a conscious and preservation culture that begins from home and transcends spaces such as classrooms.
The worrying climate deterioration is evident in the degradation of ecosystems and the loss of biodiversity, a situation that poses a problem for the existence of current and future generations. Some of the most recent cases have been floods in Australia, fires in the Amazon, drought on some continents, environmental pollution and countless natural disasters that humans ignore due to a lack of awareness.
For this reason, the environmental campaign that the school develops aims at two fundamental pillars: to raise awareness and educate, not only the students of the school, but their families and environment, through artistic activities that will be carried out and that will be represented with paintings, banners, educational talks and proactive marches in order to train critical citizens in the face of this global emergency.
“Environmental sustainability is an urgent issue for all. It is necessary for our children and young people to be aware of what is happening; and also learn to make correct and coherent decisions to lead society towards respect for natural resources,” said Víctor Alberto Gómez Cusnir, Principal of the school.
