76 years ago, during the IX Pan American Conference in Bogota, 21 foreign ministers of the Americas were hosted by the facilities of the Gimnasio Moderno after the riots that occurred on April 9, 1948 in the city. Thus, the Charter of Bogota, which gave rise to the Organization of American States (OAS), was signed in the school’s facilities.
For this reason, on April 15, at the Los Fundadores Library of the Gimnasio Moderno, an emotional ceremony was held to commemorate this political event that marked the continent. In this event, the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro Lemes, the Vice Minister of Multilateral Affairs of Colombia, Elizabeth Taylor, and our Rector, Victor Alberto Gomez Cusnir, gathered to celebrate this important event in which our school was the protagonist.
